The private cybersecurity advisor at the table with your wealth advisor, estate attorney, and CPA.

Private cybersecurity and privacy counsel for principals, households, and family offices.

Trusted human judgment in an age of AI impersonation.

Wealth advisors. Estate attorneys. CPAs. There has never been an equivalent for cybersecurity.

Blayes is that role. A leadership retainer for firms, a finite founder-led engagement for households, the same judgment at the right scale.

AI has made the technical work cheap, and a familiar voice or request is no longer proof of anything. What it cannot supply is accountability: one person who owns the decisions it has blurred and answers for them.

Founded in South Florida, Blayes works in person across Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach, and Jupiter, with remote and hybrid engagements elsewhere.

Founder, Blayes Cyber Advisors

The founder

James Blayes.

Blayes Cyber Advisors is led by James Blayes, a practicing chief information security officer with roughly twenty years protecting enterprises and the people behind them. The person who establishes your foundation is the person you reach when something looks wrong.

10 Ways to Not Get Hacked

Written plainly, sent once, with our compliments. No follow-up unless you ask for it.

We never share your address. Privacy.

Two practices. One judgment.

Two engagement lines, each led by the founder. A family-office retainer surfaces the principals' household exposure; a household engagement reveals the firm needs the same leadership. The lines compound. They are not sold together.

For institutions

The Cybersecurity Leadership Retainer

A named senior cyber owner for family offices, RIAs, and the operating businesses they own. Present at decisions and accountable for posture, without the cost of a full-time executive.

Engagement

Monthly retainer. Six-month minimum.

Review the Retainer →

For households

The Private Cybersecurity Engagement

A founder-led engagement that establishes the cybersecurity foundation around a newly complex household and closes in the Private Cybersecurity Plan, one record the household and its advisors return to when a wire looks wrong or a new advisor joins.

Engagement

Fixed-fee engagement. Scoped to the household.

Senior cybersecurity leadership, retained.

Family offices and RIAs run with wealth advisors, attorneys, CPAs, and compliance leads, but rarely a senior cybersecurity executive accountable for posture. The decision sits between IT, compliance, and instinct, which usually means it sits nowhere.

Decisions. A practicing cybersecurity executive on your calendar for what IT and compliance cannot settle alone, from vendor selection to a live incident.

Vendor oversight. Independent review of your MSPs, SOC providers, and tooling. Recommendations serve the firm, never commission or resale.

Board and principals. A quarterly written posture briefing, with material risks and pending decisions surfaced in plain language as they arise.

By monthly retainer, six-month minimum, conflict-checked before each new firm.

The risk now follows the wealth.

For the families and firms behind serious wealth, the exposure left corporate IT years ago, into personal email, brokerage logins, the house, the next transaction, a child's name online. A request to move money no longer has to look like fraud. It can be a voice you have known for years, or a face on a video call.

The signature

A recognized voice is no longer proof.

Before money moves, an instruction routes through a second channel agreed in advance. A household system that does not depend on instinct under pressure.

For households

The Private Cybersecurity Engagement.

A founder-led engagement for a newly complex household. The foundation is established, the household learns to operate it, and leaves with the Private Cybersecurity Plan: recovery paths, wire-verification rules, advisor access, and account inventories that once lived in scattered notes, now in one record, ready before the next wire or the next transition.

What the foundation establishes.

Every household engagement establishes the same core foundation. Depth varies by complexity, exposure, properties, and people covered.

Accounts and identity

A household password manager, credentials migrated, and multi-factor authentication on accounts that hold money, identity, or access

Hardware-backed authentication on the most critical accounts; email and recovery paths hardened

An inheritance access plan documented for spouse continuity

Privacy and exposure

Data-broker and people-search exposure reduced

Credit and identity files frozen across the major bureaus

Public-records exposure assessed and reduced

Home network and devices

Home network audited and segmented, smart-home devices isolated from primary traffic

Personal devices hardened across the household

The human layer

Household-staff access reviewed, anyone whose devices touch the network

Aging-parent protection: scam recognition, hardening, and a verification protocol for unusual requests

Phishing and wire-fraud recognition for principal and spouse

A verification protocol established with the household's wealth managers for money movement, so a changed instruction is confirmed on a known channel before funds move

What we don't do

Blayes is an advisory practice, not a managed service. Ongoing monitoring, SOC or MSP operation, penetration testing, incident response, and executive protection belong to specialists, and the practice refers to them.

Our value is judgment and execution, delivered cleanly and handed over.

Calibrated for every member of the household.

The exposure of a nine-year-old is not that of a college freshman or an eighty-year-old parent.

Children

Under 13

Set up with the parents, calibrated to age, never maximalist.

Teens

13 to 18

Reviewed with the teen; phishing, sextortion, and exposure addressed directly.

College

18 to 25

Hardened before they leave the family network, with a clear path back.

Aging parents

Senior generation

The most targeted group in fraud; recovery set so a trusted adult child can step in.

CONFIDENTIAL HOUSEHOLD RECORD

The cybersecurity record the household keeps.

Every engagement closes with a written record of what was established, how key systems are configured, where recovery information lives, and what exposure remains.

It is built to sit beside the estate plan, insurance file, and financial plan, and to stay useful long after the engagement ends.

How sensitive access is handled.

Both practices work closely with accounts, networks, and the household's own information. How that access is structured matters as much as the work, and it disqualifies any provider whose model depends on commission, resale, standing access, or unrestricted use of client data. The methodology is grounded in NIST Cybersecurity Framework 2.0, adapted for private-client households.

You hold the keys.

Passwords, recovery codes, and credentials stay with the client; Blayes never takes custody, during the engagement or after. Configuration is done with you present, in person or screen-shared. If the practice disappeared tomorrow, nothing about the household's security would depend on it still being there.

No sales. No commissions.

The practice does not resell software, take affiliate fees, or earn commissions on the tools used. Tool selection is based on what is right for the client, not on what a vendor pays to be recommended.

Information is minimized and masked.

Sensitive details are masked before any analysis tool is involved, and the original stays inside the engagement environment. Household information is never used to train external models or kept on third-party platforms.

Confidential, on written terms.

No engagement begins without an engagement letter and a non-disclosure agreement, with privacy and data-retention commitments agreed in advance. Client identities are never disclosed; references, when offered, are made individually and with permission.

For the firms who serve these families.

Blayes offers Private Client Cybersecurity in the Age of AI, a live six-week advisor program on verification, documentation, and first response in the age of AI-enabled client fraud. Built for RIA principals, wealth advisors, estate attorneys, CPAs, and trust officers.

Before we speak.

What does a Private Cybersecurity Engagement cost?

The Private Cybersecurity Engagement begins at $15,000; complex households typically $25,000 and above. The one-time fee includes the engagement, the Plan, and a 90-day advisory window.

My advisor calls to confirm large transfers. Isn't that enough?

It was, until a recorded voice became easy to reproduce. A confirmation call can now be the fraud rather than the safeguard: the voice on the line can be an AI-generated clone. Reliable verification depends on a second channel, agreed in advance, that an impersonator cannot reach.

Do you work alongside our existing advisors?

Yes. Blayes complements the wealth advisor, estate attorney, and CPA, never replacing them or cross-selling around them. No software resale, no commission, no account custody, so an introduction is safe for everyone.
